The A-House project is a comprehensive renovation of a 40-year-old residence in Berlin, reconfiguring the layout to expand storage, optimize washroom facilities, and revitalize the existing space.

The original interior featured heavy East Asian motifs that felt restrictive for contemporary family living. Rather than erasing this history, the design overlays new, lightweight volumetric elements onto the existing foundation—a process akin to layers of earth accumulating over time.

By allowing the original structure to recede, new luminous additions introduce lightness, fluid motion, and spatial rhythm. The material strategy combines light natural oak and soft tones with select original features, creating a deliberate dialogue between past and present. The resulting environment honors the home's history while providing a flexible setting for contemporary family life and future adaptation.
